Took my sons car into them wasn’t sure what was wrong thought it might be head gasket but to diagnose it for sure told them several times the car never overheated ( they say I said it overheated) was quoted a price to fix ($4500) I had them do other thing while the motor was out put $2200 down got the car back they found another problem they fixed paid $5436.19 ($2500 was extra stuff I had done) got the car back and within 24 hours it was running the same as when it went in took it back they fixed a couple other thing but said it still wasn’t right they thought the computer needs flashed or the valves need adjusted so I asked since they just had the heads off won’t that be on them they said no $737 and the car is off to Subaru to get looked at after diagnosis Subaru said the valves need lashed and it should of been done when it was put back together at Midwest and I have talked to another Subaru dealer and a couple mechanics I know who all said the valve lash should of been checked before reinstall. Midwest stills says no and Subaru is charging $3400 to fix what they say is Midwests mistake. Update After Subaru pulled the motor they found almost $1000 in damage to the motor that Midwest did to it and the car was out of time have pictures to prove it Midwest said the pictures don’t prove anything. So after fixing all they messed up and finishing their job (6 other shops said they should of checked the valve lashing) thanks to Subaru the car runs good. Your response shows you don’t listen to your customers, I wasn’t driving the car back to Columbia, I live in Holts Summit. This coming from the guy who called me back to yell at me for arguing with the service manager who tried to tell me when you plain a head you don’t remove any metal and I said that is the point in planning the head and then he tried to tell me not enough to make a difference, any amount is enough to make a difference and timing the car was part of the job you were supposed to do and the pictures clearly show it is not in time.

Mr. Jaeger, I am responding to this review just as I did to the State of Missouri’s Attorney General’s office in which you had filed a claim. The information provided to us directly from you was that you had just purchased the vehicle and while it driving back to Columbia the temperature gauge was showing overheat and your son shut it down before it got too “hot”, but you thought it might have a head gasket leaking and some coolant leaks, we were never informed of a drivability problem with the car as a concern of yours. Upon inspection and testing of the cooling system it was determined that in fact the head gaskets were leaking combustion gas into the cooling system. We gave you an estimate for repairing the head gaskets which requires removal of the engine, while it was out for repairs you agreed to some other needed maintenance to the engine that it obviously needed. At no time during the repair did you inform us of any condition of the engine running bad or stalling, we repaired the engine, test drove the car for over 20 miles with no drivability concerns and no cooling system problems. A few days later you informed us that the car was doing the same thing, which we asked “overheating” and your response was then to tell us that it was stalling and running rough, this was the first time you had ever mentioned that. We reinspect the work we had performed and verified the head gaskets were not leaking. At this point we spoke of several possible issues that could cause this condition and you opted to have the car inspected by the local Subaru dealer for the possible causes. They concluded many things could cause the symptoms you were having but the head gaskets leaking was not one of them. I am sorry that you have had so many problems with this recent purchase and would recommend considering action upon the place where you purchased the car as this was obviously a problem before you bought the car. I hope that it is running well for you now and that it gives you many years of trouble free service as these are generally reliable vehicles.

I was on the way to KC from St. Louis when a log on the highway cracked my radiator. A man at the gas station recommended me to Midwest Autoworx and I am very glad he did. They fit me in right away because they knew I had no where to go until the issue was fixed and set right to work. The price seemed quite reasonable, and they told us about another issue that our car was having that would need to be fixed when we got to back St. Louis, and showed us pictures of the damage. I recommend their service.

Thanks, Megan! Glad we could be of help.
